The Founders
Vessels of Mercy was founded by Jaco and Susan Fouché. When they discovered the desperate need for foster parents they knew that it was their calling to reach out to these children. They have been acting as safety parents since 2005 and became foster parents in 2008 and since 2005 they have opened their hearts and home to eight children. They live in Potchefstroom with their four children.
Being able to care for a limited amount of children at one given time, they decided to increase their influence by founding Vessels of Mercy. It is a dream that was conceived during 2005. The "baby" grew during the next few years into the concept that you see today. The "birth" of the vision has taken place on the 12th of January 2009 with the signing of the Constitution.
The name originated from the book: "From the Father's heart" by Charles Slagle where the following was noted:
"Your own need of mercy has made you a vessel of mercy to demonstrate My character to many silent sufferers."
The Lord has given us many promises that we will have many children. We share a few of these with you:
- Job 5:25 “You shall know also that your children shall be many, and your offspring as the grass of the earth.”
- Is.43:5,6 “Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east (where they are dispersed) and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, Give up! And to the south, Keep not back. Bring my sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth.”
- Is. 54:2,3,13 “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitation be stretched out; spare not; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes, For you will spread abroad to the right hand and to the left; and your offspring will possess the nations and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. And all your children shall be disciples, and great shall be the peace and undisturbed composure of your children.”
